Sir David Samworth

It is with great sadness that we learned about the passing of Sir David Samworth in recent days.
Sir David was a much-loved and committed club member from the '50s through to the '80s. As a successful and enthusiastic businessman, he remained active in his entrepreneurial endeavours even until the last days of his life.
The kindness and generosity of Sir David was epitomised in the contribution he made to the Goosedale pitch upgrade project that was completed last year. His support was highly instrumental in securing the future of hockey in Gedling for many years to come, and Nottingham Hockey Club will always be thankful to him and his foundation to this end.
We send our condolences to the Samworth family and wish all those close to him well at this difficult time.
