FREE Umpire Training Course
Posted by Adam George on 6 June 2023
Midlands Hockey are providing new opportunities for Club Umpire Development. For 2023/24 these events will be FREE to all participants, funded centrally by Midlands Hockey.
The England Hockey Officiating Club has been in existence 1 full year, and it is widely recognised that Club Umpires often have nowhere to go and noone to turn to for support. Many have done an on-line course only with no practical training. We are hoping to plug that gap with Club Umpire Training Events (CUTE).
The inaugural Event will be at Nottingham Hockey Centre on Sunday 23rd July - 11 am to 1.30 pm.
The Events will be run by experienced Umpires, Umpire Coaches and developers at venues with access to a meeting Area and a nearby pitch. Andy Barnes of Midlands Hockey is the chief organiser.
CUTE – in brief what can I expect?
· No invoices or cost
· A meet and greet to establish the attendees' learning requests
· A brief presentation
· 2 hours out on the pitch covering practical elements of the game (e.g., positioning during play and set pieces, aerial ball, decision making and control strategies)
· Opportunity to be part of a group whose shared aim is to improve their umpiring
· Opportunity to influence the future delivery of club umpire development in the Midlands region
If you wish to attend the CUTE on Sunday July 23rd 11am to 1.30 pm at Nottingham Hockey Centre, then please complete the Application Form and questionnaire reached by this link: https://forms.office.com/e/rRi8rnWVEx
