Belper 1 Nottingham 2
A
Belper side without Jeff Longdon is a welcome sight; a Nottingham side
with a Cursham, Wills, Anderson midfield and Young sweeper is equally
welcome. Except Cursham was playing an unfamiliar role of right back
and Young was umpiring.
Nottingham
looked unsure as Belper dominated the first 15 minutes, but gradually
settled and created a few forays into the oppo D. Whilst taking the
lead was probably against the run of play, it was a well taken chance
- a crisp strike from mid D from Llewelyn (playing for Nottm).
The
second half was competitively fought, and the Osin / Anderson duel probably
equal. Belper equalised from a short, but Nottm (with Young back on
to strike) regained the lead from a deflected short with 15 minutes
to go.
Retiring
to the Rifleman Arms, the team settled to watch the end of the Spurs
/ Blackburn game. Not much interest normally, except Jim A needed a
Spurs win to complete his seven predictions & a £50 jackpot
- result.
