Bridge
5ths 2 Nottingham 3
A
late start and an early leave due to important business at Viva las
Goosedale did not diminish the appetite for this local derby. Captn
Kaye had forgotten the black armbands in memory of the late, great GB
and unfortunately succumbed to the great man's illness a few hours later
when he forgot his script after a few too many Captain Morgan's.
Business
on the pitch started badly when a wooden leg gave Bridge a short in
the first minute which they converted. there was no mud slung at the
ref in GB's honour, only a few wary eyes. Once again, Nottm conceded
at a short after the initial shot was stopped. Justice was done two
minutes later when an equally unjust short was awarded to Nottm which
was converted by Rogers (I think) after the first shot was blocked.
Nottm
then looked confident for a spell which made Bridge's second against
the run of play. There were some good performances as Nottm searched
for the equaliser. Young's aerials get better as he seems to be able
to do them with a rolling ball now. Bryne on the right has GB's hair
(but nowhere near the beard) and worked some magic against his aging
full-back. And Tom had some driving runs through the middle. JC in goal
was solid.
The
equaliser came with ten minutes to go after Nottm had dominated the
second half. Just when it looked like too many chances had been wasted,
up pops Lagerberg to fire in on the break. Two minutes later and Rogers
scored a gem of a goal - a glance to a cross on the penalty spot to
creep in by the post.
A
deserved win.
